Tricky edit

Lovely slide taken by my mother but after going into the channels realized there had been damage done by miss handling the slide. Finger prints where able to be seen in the blue channel  blue

Was able to save most of the images but was not an essay edit.

Pink

This seems to be becoming more about saving my old styling images from the ignored shoebox.
Old styling prof roll dress was pure silk.

Burnt

Saved from the shoebox. Images taken in the 90's, Auckland from a models test shot I styled. Wish I still had the Karen Walker Suit.

Dawn Clark /Old Snap-shots

All images taken by Dawn Clark. Does not matter what era teenagers will embrace any technology given to them - sure my mother would have loved a iphone - wonder what gadget my grandchildren will use to take photos with.

Scan for PIC

Taken from one of my old B/W negatives.
Negative had kept pretty well... so only a light touch up - see how prints out tomorrow.
Resolution for scan set very high to 9200 but had been explained (John) that as long as you keep the size of scan as original, resolution will override any issues with deciding on latter sizing.
He was very right, great working with such a large image... though my computer was not so happy.

Delta

Simon Sampson, lead singer of New Zealand band Delta - need to contact the guys and see if they can recall what the recording day was for.
Image taken from photo-scan on Epson stylus NX125 - camera I think was my cannon...  not bad for a $100 printer did, a slight restore in photo-shop. I have also found the film from this day in the studio... just downloaded flexcolor so see if what results I get from negatives and slides at home.

Not a Dress in Sight

Photograph by Dawn Clark

Both images are scans taken off slides of my mothers.
Quick clean up in Photoshop but as I am hoping to use the scanner at uni... and get a better image file to work on.

Photograph of my mother, taken by her mother Rita Mills.
This is one of the first images captured by my grandmother that I have really taken the time to study.
There are so many elements within this image to take in. On a personal level its knowing that my grandmother more than likely made the Kilt my mother wears... as she did with most of my mothers clothes, she was a  skilled seamstresses. My grandmother  took great pride in her work knowing this I am truly fascinated by her choice of composition.
Time was taken here, time and care - the shadow so perfectly captured would have been by choice.
I did very little to correct this image... other than clean up a little damage from wear and tear.

Photograph taken by my mother. If I recall it was her best friend during her nursing years in Cromwell.
I did a light photoshop restore using cloning, spot repair, high-pass and corrected the B/W balance a little but over all it was a very basic edit as the   Photograph tones aged well.

The style reminds me of  Robert Franks image of a starlet on the red carpet... same unease.

My most precious photograph - my parents, end of a party, night they met.
Five hour Photoshop reconstruction.

Little Red

I grew up in beauty

"I Loved that Dress..."

My mother Dawn, was thirteen when she took this self-portrait - a burnt orange/red polkadot dress, handmade by her mother, my grandmother. The camera my mother used was also my grandmothers.    When ever my mother sees this photo she always says...."I loved that dress"

A New Start

One of my uni assignments was to start a blog...

I have decided to revisit this blog  - it has always been a special to me.

Photography and  dresses, have always been apart of my life... a love passed down from mother to daughter, through many generations.
